The anticipation was high for the new job of Arcade Fire, indicated by many as the most important indie band of the past decade. Two albums real assets, "The Funeral" and "Neon Bible", which had a success with critics and the public especially unusual for a group, the attitude is mainstream, but with roots well planted in the alternative circuit. To confirm this, "The Suburbs" is the title of the new album, debuted at the top of the charts in both England and America to further fuel this new phenomenon of the independent groups closer and closer, in terms of numbers, to large-scale production (eg a few months ago, the success of the new The National). Unfortunately it must be said immediately that, although the appreciation of the public seems to reward the new compositions, unfortunately we, as a whole, slightly away by the high quality of previous work. "The Suburbs" is by no means a bad album but, as often happens when il termine di paragone è molto elevato, i difetti risultano più evidenti. ( www.ilsussidiario.net )
Ebbene sì, il titolo del disk, its length (less than 16 tracks) and eight different artwork in which the cover was pulled are doing everything to tell us: this is a concept album about suburbia, or on those residential neighborhoods, unless they are rich or that physiological growth around cities, which are the soundstage show 89% of Americans who know that they are the place where the Simpsons live, that the place is set half-American cinema, where Juno gets pregnant, where "American Beauty "unfolds his tragedy, where Donnie Darko has his visions or where Peter Parker lives with his aunt, just one block from Mary Jane. This is the place to start to leave. But it is also the place where the heartland comes to terms with his dreams and aspirations. ( www.rocklab.it )
From a purely musical Butler & Associates have slightly reduced their instrumentation, simplified a bit 'arrangements, added some electronic insert and one or two tightening rock'n'roll, but without affecting significantly the amount of their sound. "The Suburbs " a facsimile of a healthy group, however, that slows down a bit 'up, remaining in the ford of his consecration. The question is se il bicchiere è mezzo pieno o mezzo vuoto. Di certo farà discutere e forse, per la prima volta nella loro breve carriera, dividerà. ( www.storiadellamusica.it )
